    Draft script for the 1945 film musical. Based on the 1940 French comedy "L'homme qui cherche la verite," written by Poerre Wolff. With three pages of shooting schedule laid in and holograph pencil annotations to the verso of the rear wrapper.
    America's wealthiest bachelor (Eddie Bracken) joins the Navy to escape his gold-digging suitors, only to be wooed by another (Veronica Lake). a cigarette girl at a club already engaged to his best friend (Sonny Tufts). Luckily another girl appears at the same club, a singer (Marjorie Reynolds), and the quartet of main characters sort things out via a series of comedic, if predictable, falterings. Veronica Lake's first proper musical, and her return to the screen after a several-month absence in which she lost a child and got divorced.
    Set largely in Miami.
    White titled self wrappers, noted as production No. 1384, dated January 4, 1944, with credits for screenwriters Karl Tunberg and Darrell Ware. Title page integral with the front wrapper, as issued. 117 leaves, with last page of text numbered E-53. Mimeograph duplication, with blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between 1-10-44 and 3-18-44. Pages about Fine, wrapper Near Fine bound with two gold brads.
